Dear Readers;
We are delighted and proud to present the July 2026 issue of Bezmialem Science journal to our valued readers. In the rapidly evolving and constantly renewing structure of health sciences, sharing scientific knowledge in a reliable, accessible, and applicable manner is more important than ever. For this reason, our journal, which brings together high-quality and innovative research produced in various sub-disciplines of health sciences, continues to build interdisciplinary bridges and contribute to the scientific literature in this issue as well.
The cover image of this issue is selected from the study titled “Clinical Image Correction for Extraocular and Periocular Pathologies and Appearance-related Findings Via an AI-based Image-editing Tool” by Pulat B, Göksu B, Hacıoğlu H, Özkahraman Kırık M, Kırık F, and Özdemir MH. This study evaluates the extent to which the Google Gemini 2.5 Flash Image (Nano Banana) artificial intelligence model can realistically and clinically accurately edit clinical images of periocular and extraocular pathologies using text commands. In analyses performed on clinical photographs representing different eye and periocular pathologies, the AI-generated edits were reviewed by independent experts. The findings show that the model can perform successful image edits while maintaining a high level of realism in many pathologies, and presents a promising approach in the field of clinical image processing.
Other articles featured on the cover include:
“Phenotype-specific Variations in Vitamin D, Body Mass Index, Insulin Resistance, Anti-Mullerian Hormone, and Lipid Levels in Women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome” by Şanlıkan F et al.
“Comparative Efficacy of Letrozole and Clomiphene in Ovulation Induction for Infertile Females with Comorbidities: A Cross-Sectional Study” by Laraib A et al.
“Measuring the Quality of Life of Patients Undergoing Total or Subtotal Gastrectomy Due to Gastric Cancer” by Güzel M and Akçakaya A.
“Factors Affecting Attachment Loss in Clear Aligner Treatment: A Prospective Clinical Study” by Şahin S et al.
As Bezmialem Vakıf University, with the strength derived from our long-standing foundation tradition, we continue to prioritize ethical principles, academic rigor, and social responsibility in scientific research. We hope that every study published in our journal will not only contribute to the scientific literature but also guide the development of healthcare services, the improvement of patient care, and future research. In this regard, we continue to include original research as well as reviews and case reports that enrich current knowledge, in accordance with scientific quality criteria.
We are also pleased to share an important development for our journal in this issue. Bezmialem Science has achieved a significant milestone in its scientific development journey, rising from category Q4 to category Q3 in the Medicine, General & Internal category according to international academic evaluation criteria. This development is a combined result of our commitment to publishing high-quality scientific studies, our meticulously conducted editorial processes, and the dedicated contributions of our authors and reviewers. In the coming period, we will continue to improve our publication quality and contribute to the national and international scientific community.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the authors who contributed their valuable work to the preparation of our July issue, and to our editors and reviewers who conducted the evaluation processes with great dedication and a sense of scientific responsibility. This collaboration and effort, which forms the basis of scientific publishing, will continue to strengthen the academic quality of our journal. I hope that this third issue of the year will open doors to new ideas and be inspiring for all researchers, academics, and clinicians working in the field of health sciences. I wish you enjoyable reading.
